UPS or corporate job?

Just my opinion, but it seems every time I get called out for a 12-14 day PacRim trip, we end up flying the 757 in and out of Clark on most of the legs anyway.

I didn't mean that the 757 is unattractive, although I like the 76 better <G>, what I meant is that now the MIA 757 guy can find himself doing cross domicile reserve duty, and flying those Clark trips (no training required other than the north atlantic) instead of sunning themselves at South Beach while on call.

Like everything else the IPA does, it looks like our version of preferencing will be wort of half assed. In my mind, a good system would be one where you preference a trip, are awarded it, and then are off the hook until you show for that trip. At UPS, according to the questions asked at the ANC meeting, you will still be on reserve with the 90 minute call requirment. Forget the idea of staying home and commuting in to pick up the trip you got.
A step in the right direction, but an IPA half step

I wonder if all of the Z guys are going to get trained for the Americas?

I've heard a scarier possibility than that. There is rumor that the domestic and international domiciles might just merge. Again, all that is required is a north atlantic check for the captain and one flight every two years for currency. Not necessarily the safest operation, but many other airlines operate that way and it would save them some reserve overhead. The mighty dollar speaks again.
The speculation was that to save moving expenses and displacement shuffles, they would most likely close the domestic domicile (it is smaller) and have a large Z left over that did domestic routes.

. Nice that two of the people that designed our new scheduling system are quitting, eh? Seems Tom brings out the best in everyone!

In case anybody cares anymore, I just wanted to let everyone know that I turned down the bank job today. I know some people said that I should take it and then try to find a way to get to the UPS interview, but I just couldn't do that. I didn't want to start working somewhere knowing that I was going to leave as soon as I could. Besides, I have a great AF reserve job right now, so the more I thought about it there was really no reason to take the bank job as a holdover job just to wait to see how the UPS interview turns out.
Thanks again for everybody's input, it helped me make the right decision. I hope to meet some of you on the UPS line someday in the near future!
