nothing parked when they come on-line. I think the delivery schedule has slowed down (seven instead of twelve this year or something like that ???) Someone will correct me if I'm wrong....and the above is always subject to change......and could be wrong.... |

From a current UPS pilot...
Lets no speculate wildly and get peoples hopes up, all it will do is bring them back to earth in a rather quick and harsh fashion. Something this pilot group recently expereinced, again. I too am on the street, but it will happen when it happens and make no mistake there will be no announcement. Someone will get a call friday night for a Sunday sim or something like that. UPS will take ALL the credit and leave the IPA in the dark like a mushroom factory. On top of that it will be only due to some unforeseen economic forecast that they found under a desk that was misplaced prior to the execution of this disaster. YMMV |

Sorry if I twisted the knife or caused false hope to anyone. I was simply wondering if there was any truth behind what was heard.
I wish the best to all awaiting recall and hope there are more added below you on the list in the near future. |
FWIW. Was in CQ last week and asked one of the company's ground school instructors if the company still plans on parking 75's as the 76's come on line. He said that has been put on the back burner and no 75's, that he knows of, will be parked. I hope everyone is back by the end of the year!

We're all at the mercy of The Davis Doctrine
As this is primarily a Fed Ex board, I'm, not too uncomfortable saying out loud that Fred Smith is my hero. He seems to be of the mind that this is the time to expand/capture market share and make significant capital expenditure. IMO this, and only this may drive UPS to grow the airline at all. As evidenced in part by the statements of the CFO in the latest earnings call, UPS plans no significant capital (read: buying airplanes) expenditure in the near future. I believe that The Davis Doctrine will remain in place, that being NO airline growth, but pawn off volume surges on SCS/ACMI carriers, or simply pass on what they consider lower yield volume. The dividend is growing steadily, bottom line is growing and the BOD (few of which care if the company lasts more than 10 years) is happy.
I say go Fred...the only thing that will make the Gecko we work for buy another airplane or hire another pilot is you kicking their tails. |
This is great news for you guys. Not parking airplanes as planned is as good as growth.
Unless things change, again, you'll be calling folks back by summer. |

Hearing rumors of upcoming recall.
Flew w/ H.M. the other day and he stated recalls at the end of this year and everyone back next year. He also told me he is involved w/ manpower planning. ( I asked; since I did not know.) I thought the CO. line was recalls starting next year, so I would guess it is an improvement. Rumor: the training center is moving up the training dates to get the most people through training to allow the training of the recalled pilots. |
