FDX Memphis Golf

Does memphis national have a pool and tennis? Windyke looks like a really good deal for a country club, but the location ain't the greatest. Germantown CC looks really tight, Ridgeway looks nice but maybe pricey.

If you are mostly interested in golf I think Memphis National is the best bang for your buck. If you want the full package of tennis and pool and golf then Wyndyke is my vote. You need to visit so you can compare them all. They will comp you a couple of visits and maybe even a lunch to check it out. All of them are definitely dealing on fees right now.

Windyke- Pretty good golf (2 courses). Pool. Not sure about Tennis. Fairly crowded.
Germantown- Good golf, but tight course. Might have some issues with flooding now. Pool and I believe tennis.
Memphis National- Fair golf, pretty crowded, but two courses. No pool or tennis. Cheapest golf option.
Ridgeway- Very good golf, tennis, and pool. More expensive than the others. Not crowded.
There are others, from inexpensive Greens of Irene to expensive ones like Southwind and Memphis CC. With the economy still weak, most clubs are hurting and are willing to deal. Some offer weekday type memberships. I've heard some offer deals to military guys and retirees. I'd spend a day and visit each club and check out their facilities and see what kind of deals are out there. Most will let you play a round and, if nothing else, you'll get a few free rounds if golf.

No comparison..Ridgeway is the leader by far. Great golf course (zoysia fairways), indoor/outdoor tennis, great large pool and fabulous food. Was a member there before I moved off the Planet Memphis. You might even find John Daly and Shaun Micheel playing there on occasion. It's a golf course you'd never get tired of day after day. Worth the extra bucks...trust me on this one.

I agree, Ridgeway CC is head/shoulders above the rest; especially considering you have the course mostly to yourself on weekdays. Haven't been there in several years but with the economy I assume it's still that way. Do they still turn the course around in winter, i.e. tee boxes become the winter greens?

My vote is for Colonial CC. The South Course is probably one of the top 5 in the state and the North Course is a whole lot of fun. Great clubhouse, pool, tennis, food and a member/guest that is second to none.
Also, there are some great guys out there and it's easy to get into a regular game. IMHO, you can't do better. I haven't been to Spring Creek in a few years but that is a hike from where I live anyway.
