Look at many of those Senior Flex's in the MD11. They have been in the School house or mgt jobs for the last 20 plus years....................and teaching us how to fly in China or SFS when they have never been there.
A a few even Brag about that fact.
MY prediction is that Very few FLEX guys will quit.....except The Senior 727 Flex guys. Watch the next bid. See if they don't Bid the Bus or MD and magically become a expert flex intructor on them after 2 short months of having to fly the line.

I just want to clairfy the Above.

When I went through training, most of the instructors were great and very professional. There were a few that needed to go.

Most these guys realized the great Deal they had and weren't looking a gift horse in the mouth. The problem with any "Good Deal" that is limited to a "select few"..............is it soon becomes a sense of Entitlement.

When you get most of these guys by themselves, say over a beer, they will tell you what a fantastic deal is was. True they often had to work Max days a month. There is a Big Difference working MAX days evey month sleeping in your own bed every night and working a regular line being away from home 6 months out of the year, missing Birthdays, Holidays, little league games and Anniviersays. I would sure like the option to get my next month's schedule with DRFT days already added on and sleep with the wife every night!!

Too good of a job to quit. Where else can you get paid as a pilot and not be one? I know one guy that has been on the -11 from day one, 15+ years. Total MD11 time 1200:00, 800:00 Capt 400:00 F/O, not sure if he has ever been required to carry a passport.:( Another guy bumped me from a trip for his fly days, both day flights, the first being NWA!;)

If ypu would like that option why don't you apply? By the way if your next month schedule is 15 days in MIN. Your wife better live there

Only for some of us......

Another way to look at it is.............You can sleep with your MEM mistress everynight if you are a Flex that commutes;)

Or, to be correct if you are a Flex guy who is apparently unhappy..........you can simply "return" to the Line.

For some of those guys .......returning to the line is impossible, because you can't return to a place you have nere been to!

Note, he said "sleep with the wife." He didn't say his wife!!

So, I would say, yes. Under those circumsatnces that could be an advantage to a large number of us.
