Europe Domiciles ?
Rumor has it that UPS is looking at crew bases outside of the U.S.
1. What does it really cost to live in Germany? A house or apartment equal to what you would have in the states not a crash pad .
2. Automobile expenses compared to the U.S.?
3. Can the spouse work legally?
4. Normal grocery type expenses?
5. If your company has an overseas COLA how much and does it cover the difference? What would it really take? Do they adjust for changes in the exchange rate?
6. What is the time commitment if you bid the crew base , years before you can get out, etc?
7. Moving expenses? Round trip or one way?

You need to ask us this question in a few years. Our CGN base is not open yet, so we have no idea.
The only question we can accurately answer right now is #6.
Taking our "enhanced option" (the one where you get the extra 3500 per month tax free to live on) requires a 2 year commitment. You can bid out before 2 years (as witnessed with HKG guys), however the company will assign you a class date for your new base that starts 2 years and 1 day from the day you showed up in the FDA.

I look at rentals on the international sites and find something in HK that might be workable in terms of space and its 10k US a month.
While I look at rentals in Cologne for about the same and I see places for 2k or less.
Of course i have no idea what the respective areas are like .
Where would you put your family in HK , how much would it cost, what has the company come up with, what size place in what part of town and why?
More than just the deal is c77ppy.

Trying to find out what has worked and what has not ahead of the game from pilots that have experienced it is what I am after.
UPS is always examining their options and planning, think they are stupid at your own risk

Yeah, they never do things fast...like retire the -8 in 3 months unexpectedly!
