Comparing an Android phone to anything else, especially a completely different device, is a moot point. It's an apples to oranges comparison. (pun intended)

I'm just getting started with all this, so be gentle.
I was told the Android operating system isn't compatible with windows based programs such as MS office, outlook, etc. Is this an issue?
Can you use files from these programs? How about .MP3s, .jpeg pictures, pdf files, etc.
If a tablet is going to be my "on the road" computer, I need to be able to use word documents, pdfs, quicken and outlook as a minimum. What's the straight scoop.
Thanks.

Do a google search for the file types you need to use on an Android system You will probably find that most are readable, with a respective app for it.

samsung has a proprietary connection plug and no external storage.
Xoom has sd capability and hdmi out. xoom is built a little tougher than the galaxy. My vote is xoom over galaxy like others haves said.
If you are looking for a do it all the ipad will do more aviation and Fdx specific apps.
If flash is a priority, go with a droid.

True, the iCloud will make that easier. I was also alluding to the PITA that's involved with converting files over to itunes before even being able to put them on an ipad/iphone.
Wheres an Android system you just drag and drop the file.
