UPS Evaluating A380 Order
#11
I would not be suprised to see a massive spike in 747-800 orders in the very near future... Beside interms of capacity the 800 will only carry 6 tons less than an A-380 but is far more efficient doing it... Infact most of the weight difference between the 747-800 and the A-380 is basic structural weight.... I think Boeing really has a winner this time...

No doubt, if I were a betting man (oh right , I am) I'd say ANC will grow for both companies. No better place to play pallet swap to ensure full loads both ways.
Of course it may not mean an increase in pilot manpower, and FedEx already has a huge sort there, but in terms of staging freight ANC makes sense - still.

Ever think that Airbus will fall back on its old tricks and start selling the 380 at bargain basement prices just to keep the program ie. JOBS alive? I wouldn't doubt they'll start selling them at less than list!

I apologize, I did not mean to imply that. But there is large difference in our inbound and outbound loads. It was a smart @ss way of bemoaning the large trade deficit and our growing indebtedness to Asia. It seems like the only thing the Chinese are interested in is our T-bills.
That being said, I believe that FS will still buy the A380, but gouge every last cent out of the French while doing it! Whether it takes the form of some cheap A300s or a break on construction cost for the expansion at CDG. JMHO
