Hey Don, I wouldn't believe any of the above posters. Where's your sense of adventure. Go for it, big boy.

Are those the same vagabonds that moderate on here??? I kid....

Well thanks for the input. I didn't really want to drive all the way out to JFK anyway!! If UAL would show the "love" that DAL is (ala 150% on the miles) I'd just book the EWR PVG flight . Thanks for your responses.

Is this a FDX post? I thought the company was NOT allowed to book us China Southern. Very bad airline and not safe? So what's going on? Can the Union get involved in this? This is the kind of "creep" (i.e. if no one says anything or waves the BS flag it just continues -- please, file an OPS REPORT) that drives me crazy. We need to hold someone's feet to the fire. I'm thinking' Cathay to HKG, then a train to CAN?

Many trips have been scheduled on CZ- China Southern. Better that the train from HKG to CAN is Cathay (Dragon Air) from HKG to CAN.

Hang on dogs, I started this thread and its about DEV travel not SCH. I was looking into going from NYC to PVG non stop rather than through ORD as scheduled and wanted some intel on China Southern. Bad on Delta for allowing them to be team members if their not up to the (Fedex ) standard.
Will take my chances going through DTW.

Hate to say it but our domestic carriers aren't much better than China Southern, except they possibly speak English and serve recognizable food. Took an American 777 from Chicago to ZSPD and was really underwhelmed. Food was decent, drinks were free flowing, and the fa's were surprisingly attentive and friendly (really amazing with all they are going through.) The seats were not comfortable and the inflight entertainment re-set so many times I could barely get through a movie. The sad part is I considered it a huge improvement over the Delta flight I had taken the month prior.
