Only two of the HKG 4 have hired counsel for their arbitration hearings. The other two are currently relying on ALPA's legal team.

Under AK law and proceedures, the three pilots whose complaints are being investigated by the state human rights commission can either let the commission do the legal work or file their own suits in civil court, not both. No private attorneys are needed if they decide to let the commission prosecute, but there is a ceiling on legal remedies ($) if they go this route. I don't believe these pilots are looking for large punitive damages, even though they may be entitled to them. They want an end of the company's illegal discrimination against themselves and all other married FDX pilots (including those with same-sex marriages recognized in the states that allow this), and their jobs back.
