Looking at the results, it appears that 727 FO, MD11 Mem FO, and 777 Mem FO all were unfilled. 50, 12ish and 19ish vacancies respectively. HKG and CGN were also unfilled as usual.
If one uses last year's bid and subsequent newhire placement as a guide, we could see newhires in all the above FO seats. I am not sure management will know what to think about newhires in the 777. Strange times indeed.
Doubt we ever see newhires to the backseat again.
Interesting

From my analysis of the "Percentages" at bid closeout, it looks like plenty of vacancies for new hires exist.
MEM 757/FO - 84% full
MEM MD11/FO - 98%
ANC MD11/FO - 100%
LAX MD11/FO - 100%
MEM 777/FO - 95% (...but company has declined to hire directly into this seat)
MEM A300/FO - 98%
HKG A300/FO - 92%
CGN 757/FO - 46%
MEM 727/FO - 50%

I did hear that we'll be hiring into the right seat of the 777.
There's a new module to complete during the interview process that requires the candidates to make coffee, heat up food, and type ETOPSOK into a computer. If they can complete those difficult tasks then they may be choosen for the big twin.

What is the origin of the B777 being referred to as "the toolbox"? Is it because most of the captains are over 60 types? Is it that some captains have chosen to deny jumpseaters?

This is funny and all that, but what makes someone who bids the right seat of this or gets hired into it a tool?

Sounds like a little jealousy here, which I don't understand at all. If a new-hire gets into the 777, it's because someone else, whose already on the property, didn't want it. That doesn't make the newbie a bad guy, just a lucky one.
