Default Dr. Kendall's contract will not be renewed!

I just got off the phone with one of our captains who I have been mentoring for the past two years while he went through cancer treatment. We talk about twice a week and tonight he told me that he's been cleared by the FAA to return to work. The process took perhaps 3 months, from the time he was ready to try to get back to work until he finally got approval from the FAA.

Anyway, he was talking earlier today with Dr. Kendall about his return-to-work notice to the company, and Dr. Kendall mentioned to him that FedEx won't be renewing his (Kendall's) contract, but will instead be going with Harvey Watt. I really wasn't aware that the Harvey Watt company provided the same services which Dr. Kendall's group did, but upon looking them up on the internet, found that they do. Here's a link: Harvey Watt & Co. | Professional Pilot Disability & Life Insurance, Aeromedical Services, & Airline Claims/Absence Management

Being a 'Waiver Boy' myself, I can say without any hesitation the finest medical advice & representation I've received during my years of dealing my medical issue came from Dr Kendall. He booted the other doctor in his practice for something he deemed counter to the best interests of FedEx pilots. I doubt my opinion will matter a bit, but the Chief Pilot will hear about the excellent service Dr Kendall provided me.

We use Dr. Kendall (and Dr. Masters before him) at IPA as well. He has provided outstanding service/advice to me in the past. I hope that Harvey Watt & co. works out as well for you, but I could not imagine anyone more helpful or knowledgeable than Dr. Kendall and his staff.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the company doctor AND the union doctor, FDX ALPA, both names Dr. Kendall?

Which doctor Kendall are we talking about? I assume the company's Dr. Kendall.

The union Kendall is a line pilot and is the aeromedical commitee rep. He is not a doctor but he may have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before

Dr. Kendall did a great job, provided excellent advice when I was facing a medical situation and handled the FAA when I returned to work. His integrity is above reproach. It mattered not that he worked for the company. I expected to call on him if I ever had a problem again. I hope that ALPA will retain his services. He has worked for the Union before.

So here's the latest on that friend who I've been mentoring. On Monday he was cleared by the FAA to return to the cockpit. Dr. Kendall gave him that information as well as contacting FedEx with the ok for him to go back to work. My friend was told today that he's enrolled in a class, and has to be back in Memphis, this coming MONDAY. That's amazingly fast, but I guess the company couldn't do without him for another week or two. Congratulations Buddy, now get back to work so that I can finally retire and be assured that my checks will arrive on time each month.

fcif just out say's Doc K is retiring. Called his office today to enquire about my status and his secretary indicated FDX gave them short notice about not renewing contract,,,less than 1 month notice,,she did not mention him retiring,,hmmmm..??? Secretary says 120+ FDX crew are in my position re; regaining medical status. Hope we don't fall thru the cracks during transition. Any suggestions....

He's probably retiring like many management pilots "decide" to return to the line!
