Yeah, 18% of the pilots might be on narrowbody right now. But their "windfall" from a single pay rate is more importantly protection for midlevel widebody flyer's that want to bid the 767.
With a combined 767/757 bidpack (yes, it's going to happen. nothing to stop it) you eventually risk having pilots get narrowbody pay when their 767 trip gauge changes to a 757 or they get a new 757 trip in substitution. Not likely you say? I say not likely it won't happen if it saves the company some dough.
You end up screwing all those senior to the narrowbody crowd by letting that happen. The lower 18% gets nothing but good deals by picking up 767 open time or gauge changes. They benefit regardless of the how bad we screw the middle 50%.
A single pay rate would eventually protect a lot of us because the 757/767 world is slated to get very large.

Actually, we currently have pay guarantee for a trip, ie the higher of scheduled or actual This wording could be put in place to protect against gauge changes. A certain percentage of vto lines and reserve lines could pay wide body (or all). A wide body capt doesn't have to bid it (757/767) if there's concern for 75 trips. However, as you stated, it means more coin for the guy holding 75 pay. Your picking up scenario could be done by all, just the junior have an option of making more.
As wide bodies leave they will have to be replaced with wide bodies (767s). I don't know any md-10 routes that can be flown with one 757. So the wide body percentages will stay the same IMHO.
Again, right now, narrow bodies are being flown by choice, with some of the captains not having that option if is all one scale. So the 75/76 will also be flown by choice. Don't bid if you don't want the quagmire.
I am not against the single pay scale. I'm just saying that I think it is much more beneficial to the company than our doomsday planning. This way, 75 guys will make more as you stated. Because of this, let them bring it to the table. Training costs alone are worth it for them.
I guess I still see the percentage of NB aircraft still being a small portion of our fleet unless a 75 can haul what 300/310s haul out of certain locations. I just think seat progression will be stagnated. How many would be for it if just prior to the contract implementation, a one time re-alignment bid is done with no current seat protection allowed. That would only be fair essentially adopting an entirely new pay scale.
Current pay
How many narrow body f/os are getting W/B pay?
- all of them could be if they wanted (Passover)
Captains?
At least 25% - just in training/ stds, management and guys they aren't going to train.
It's ok for us to want it (I still think it can work without if need be) but let them give us something in negotiations to get it!

Possibly.... But right now we're supposed to get 46 767s by the end of 2018 wiith the first 3 not showing up until FY 2014, so operationally, realistically, 2015. We will also have over 800 retirements by the end of 2018 also. That equivalent to amost two thirds the MD-11 Memphis captains and two thirds the Memphis airbus captains combined. That's gotta allow for some padding for them.

Yep,
3 of them between June 2013-June of 2014, of which 2 ( the round dial ones)will only be used for all the testing. So thats why i said 2015 for realistic operations that we, the crew members will see. Unless I am missing something....
