O.K. Game on....
Were you a WB captain in December 2007?
If so, you got a gift of 5 more years in that seat. Maybe it's time for the junior guys to get a bit of a windfall.
Not trying to start a war but a single rate would be a great start to make up for the 5 more years some of us got at the bottom of the list....

That means 18%(3% F/Es) of the crew force is on narrow body scale.
Correct me if I am wrong but being on the narrow body now is by choice. Pretty sure we are hiring into every wide body in memphis and we can only do that if the spots go unfilled.
A single pay rate actually helps the company more than us. Training costs go way down. Seniority actually falls more in line. The problem it presents is there is an option for an f/o to make more money as a narrow body captain that wouldn't be available to him or her if it is paying wide body rates if he/she is somewhat junior.

OK, good point. IF the projected training musical chairs is lowered enough to pay for the pay raise of the 757 guys vs the current wide/narrow
system and managing a 'dual pay' 75/76 bid pack, then maybe the company would 'share' those dollars and have X plus Y dollars. Would have to be coupled with an overall wide body pay raise to stop the appearance of the wide body guys not getting theirs.

Actually my point is,
small percentage affected (15%) next year.
Most there by choice.
Very beneficial for the company.
Let them bring it to the table, and offer us something in exchange.

I never asked for or wanted said "windfall."
In fact, like you, I have been penalized by said "windfall" due to EVERY SINGLE BID (monthly bid, vacancy bid, vacation bid) that has had scores of folks senior to me that that might have otherwise retired!!!!!!
Just for discussion purposes ... I intend to retire at 60 and will have received only penalty from said "windfall."

Also needs to be thought of in persecutive of 4a2b by thinkers smarter than I. The excess bid push down becomes much, much simpler and cheaper with one pay rate, as does training for a good economy growth spurt. That it definitely good for the company. Is that good or bad for us?

OK, out of the july bid packs 807 pilots on the 727 and the 757. total 4541.

In the long run I think one pay rate is best for the crew force. Time value of money and all that. Better not having 2nd year guys working overtime to pay off 1st year credit cards. But for me I like the option of chosing between seniority and money.
My prediction, the company will offer a single pay rate, a big boost to international override, and a couple of more 3% raises. Extension will pass with 68% and a 4A2b fix will be put off till the contract after the contract after next.
