Any American cards offering the stupid chip and pin system yet?

That's great until that country or continent's currency tanks and you have a bunch of worthless money. In this new world economy, it is getting more and more likely a scenario. No way I would travel without a Visa or Mastercard...accepted everywhere

I use Charles Schwab Debit card with no annual fee, unlimited ATM withdraws and they pay all ATM fees foreign and domestic. And you actually talk to a live person in the US if you need to call them for anything.

Jeez.....you make it sound like I carry around a hundred thousand dollars in cash. I carry maybe 1 or 2 hundred in cash of various countries so when I get somewhere I have enough for a tip and dont have to hit the ATM every time I land. Also helps when something goes haywire and cash is not available, like this trip when I did not realize my ATM card was expired. Of course I carry a CC for emergencies.

Same, though I primarily use the card for ATM withdrawals. Purchases I have a Marriott Visa with Chase. No FOREX fees on it.

As for American version of Chip and Pin cards, Chase offers two for now that both do not have FOREX fees;

I've also heard that Citi credit cards can be chipped, however you need to call them directly. A bit of a tedious process if you can even get one in the first place.

Just traveling through, but spending at least 2 weeks per month in the aforementioned countries for the foreseeable future.

Just got one from Andrews Federal Credit Union. No Annual Fee, but do impose a foreign trans fee.

I use the Priority Club from Chase. There is a $45 annual fee starting the second year, but they give you a free night certificate that makes up for it.
