I guess... my point was you'll end up working 18 days according to any a pattern at any other airline. At Atlas it's 17 (even though it's 18).

A. MAXIMUM SCHEDULED DUTY DAYS IN A BID MONTH
1. Crewmembers shall be awarded or assigned a monthly Bid Line
(“Bid Line”) in accordance with the bid process set forth in this

of reserve duty, associated with a Bid Line shall not exceed
seventeen (17) days.

They're just saying if you have a schedule where you report for duty early on the first Z day it will be the previous day in local time at any of our bases. Yes its no more than 17 Z days but viewed in local time at your base you are working on 18 different calendar days which at many airlines would make it an 18 day pattern.

My argument is they can not schedule more than 17 days.If your pattern starts at 0001Z on the 1st it WILL end at 0001Z on the 17th. Not 2359Z on the 17th as some are suggesting. Just to make sure, I went and looked at all the bidlines and not a one had anyone out more than 408 hours (17X24), not even close.

My original argument was against the following statement:

"Don't forget also that Atlas is a Zulu time airline so everything is in utc time. Why does this matter? Because you may have a 17 day pattern that starts at 0100z on the 2nd but that's really the 1st so in actuality it's a 18 day pattern."

The above statement is simply not true, maybe your pattern starts a day early but it also ends a day early. Making them a 17 day pattern.

0001Z On the 1st to 0001z on the 17th would only be 384 hrs or 16 days worth of time. They definitely can pattern you to be out to 2359Z on the 17th day no matter when you start on your 1st day.

They aren't saying you'll be out for more than 408 hrs or 17 days worth of time. They're saying if you go by local time at any of our bases you could be patterned to work on 18 different calendar days. Yes it's only 17 days worth of time but it spans 18 local time calendar days. They're just saying that at many other airlines that schedule you in local time out of your base some of our 17 day patterns would be considered 18 day patterns.

Personally I don't think it makes any difference. Schedule in local or Z, we do 24 hr ops so your potential start and end times would just slide a bit but the total time they could use you is the same.
