If I had made a statement like this:

"We will be publishing a system bid no later than the second week of January that will add additional seats to the 757 while balancing the vacancies in other airplanes created by pilot retirements to date, as well as those projected through the end of 2013."

I would at least make a follow up statement when plans changed, especially if I was an SVP!

I was thinking the exact same thing. Just put out a short FCIF that's say " due to the UPS/TNT fallout, we are postponing the system bid for 30 days to reevaluate our staffing". Just be honest, jeez, mgmt acts if we are children.
I never understood why they aren't up front with staffing and aircraft deliveries?

Ah no sweat off their backs, load up the junior seat with new hires. Let the undermanned seats all fly extra. Have a system bid every 18 months or so. Life goes on.
