Or better yet....Move the pitot heat switches to the engineer panel and nail a loafer to the First Officer's foot rest...

Exactly, Emirates has many routes less than 4 hours. Some 45 minutes.

Have to agree with Redeye, going to miss them too. My biggest regret was that I never flew it, just a 'plumber' for a few years.

Default purpose of fo

I was told the primary purpose of the fo in all 3 man aircraft was birdstrike protection for the engineer.....

Pardon my ignorance, but has anyone looked into putting winglets on the 777? As efficient as the 777 is already, just curious if winglets would make it even more efficient.

It has a cranked wingtip that Boeing decided was better than the winglet for the 777.

The designers built it with raked wingtips which offer some benefits over winglets.

Yes, I quoted wiki.

I was told that the ONLY purpose for the f/o in the 727 was to turn on the pitot head.
The Captain didn't want to reach over to do it and the F/E COULDN'T reach it!

Check essential!

Slackers.

Back in my plumber days we had an afternoon takeoff out of Billings in the summertime. Our stop margin was something generous like 7 or so.

As he pushed up the power the captain looked at the FO and I and said "Gentlemen, the only way we are getting airborne today is due to the curvature of the Earth. Set max power."

Bring on those UAL 757s I say.

They could alway make the gear handle about 3 feet longer and remove the FO seat so the S/O can reach the handle.
