Hey, I can't fault him for going to Auburn.

Or for choosing his bride.

It was the choices be made after that. ;)

What will the results look like for a new guy

So being well within the excess zone for MEM WB and within 100 numbers off the bottom of the master seniority list what will the flush look like for a new guy. Will he/she see MEM 757 on the results for practice bid #1, #2 and final no matter what?

Won't the vacancy bid be irrelevant since it is basically being posted so close to the excess (within a week or two)? Thanks.

In an effort to eliminate FEPP, why doesn't the bid include (-1) on HKG Captain seat?

It would not help. The key provision in the contract is that bidding an FDA cannot create an excess. So in your example, if 20 guys bid to excess as a HKG Capt, that would create an additional 20 excesses, and since CBA 24.C.6.c prevents that those 20 pilots would be eligible for FEPP. In essence, a -1 only effects the last guy at HKG.

... and the senior HKG Capts. could bid to relieve excess so bottom guy would probably stay

I'm in the same boat. I think it's inevitable that we'll end up in the 75. I don't know though and am curious what other guys who have been around the block a few times think.

In the FDAs after you have completed your commitment period plus 12 months, you can always bid back without a vacancy bid. Most of those senior guys have already met their obligations and can bid anything they hold at anytime. They just need to give the company a 6 month heads up. So, I doubt that many would bid to relieve excess. If that is the case they would have already given the company their notification of wanting to exit in lieu of a vacancy bid.

In the FDAs, before you have completed the commitment period, you can bid back if you're willing to repay the $10,000 seed money and any storage fees paid.

The Exit in Lieu of a Vacancy Bid is a lengthy process, and when you begin the process you're restricted from participating in any vacancy/excess postings.

There are people there now waiting for a vacancy posting. You may recall our Executive VP of Flight Operations promised us a substantial posting before the middle of February. That posting has yet to materialize. When it does, you'll see some people move -- some people who had to go in order to keep their FEPP.

I think you can count your number from the bottom, subtract the number of pilots junior to you in HKG and CGN, and the resulting number will be how far you'll be from the bottom in the B-757 MEM. That should be pretty close.

I wouldn't expect you to move on the subsequent vacancy posting for the B-767.

Programming logic cannot currently manage vacancies and excesses in one bid, so we need to run separate vacancy and excess bids. A second bid, Posting 13-04, will be published the third week in April offering vacancies associated with the introduction of the B767.

I understand that the economy isn't great and we all want (need?) a proactive company that is able to adapt to changing times. I don't believe there is anything sinister in their proposed downsizing. Can anyone explain why our (legitimately) high tech company can't figure out how to manage a single bid that takes aircraft going away and new arriving aircraft all on the same bid!*?:eek::eek: A High School kid could write the program.

It will be interesting to hear what ALPA thinks.

Hey Mark,

Even DAL's outdated IT could handle these variables within a single bid:

Advance entitlement (vacancy)
Voluntary Displacement (excess)

Mandatory Displacement( excess
Secondaries

One big slice with the axe, and you knew what was what......

Good luck to all,
BG

It would also depend on how many more committee volunteers are willing to bid it and use trip removal to avoid going there very often.

Very true on the number that often have to leave under a -1. surprises are likely to occur!

Tsk, Tsk. You shouldn't be be so willing to drag anyone you don't like over the coals
