Default Internal employee advantage?

Because FX and UPS tend to promote from within, what advantage would a handler have at a pilot position? I only ask because I would assume that this is not a very common occurance.

Before you start too many more new threads, all of the questions you've asked so far have been addressed in minute detail on other threads.

The quick answer to this question is that it is not at all uncommon. A guy in my guard unit just got an interview by working as a box thrower for a year.

But again, before we reinvent the wheel, take a few minutes to do a search and you'll find this question dissected in detail on a number of other threads.

More common than you might expect. While it won't give you any advantage in an interview, it will practically guarantee you the interview. Use the Search button to learn more. This topic has been talked about numerous times on this board!

Jan 2007, 30 year anniversary with FDX, 11 years on the line. Being internal has its advantages. Enough said.

What happens if i need to leave and then come back to the company? I assume that I will have to put in another 12 months or so which means i most likely wont be flying.

Maybe at FEDEX. I don't think this would help you at UPS.
