Can you provide those studies?

Regardless, "pricy private college" is cheaper than most public college.

In a word; no. We'll just have to wait and see.

Harvard And Yale Now Less Costly Than Public California Universities
Can't quote all the articles I've read over the years. I've just graduated a daughter w Honors from VaTech who will begin with Vanguard next month , and have another rising junior in systems engineering.

Leading up to their quest for choice & entry I did quite a bit of study. References that I most vividly recall, and that can be most easily tracked are:

US News & World report best college values
Kiplingers best values in colleges
Princeton Review Best college values
USA today college section

US News had the most comprehensive & easy to digest publications. There are so many variables and student desires it is difficult to make a statement that covers every single scenario.

The flagship Ivy's may provide robust aid that make costs close to public, but the reality is the acceptance rate is pretty low. Kind of like an aspiring pilot saying I'll be a pilot cuz fdx pilots make a good salary, true but what is the rate of acceptance to applicants at fdx?

Focusing on my backyard in VA & NC, the cost/value of in-state tuition of the "good public schools" vs private is significant. UNC vs Duke? Uof Richmond vs UVA/VaTech/William & Mary ? Pretty big delta's there, but the value is in the eye or wallet of the student (parent payer).

I guess it depends on who you trust Forbes or your New Republic:

I believe the "work ethic" that would lead one to labor 14 days a month for $300,000+/yr pretty well permeates the American workforce.

FBH, just give it some more time and then someone will Blame the High cost of College on ALPA, or DW or SS. Then we can get back to our regularly scheduled B##ch session.

Nice, and so true. And some of us view people who work 60 hour WEEKS for 1/10th of that 300K lazy!

I challenge that assumption but offer one of my own; some people of a certain political persuasion think those people are stupid since they offer them that much for not working.
