Having survived 3 different cancers, I'm a little sensitive to the radiation issues..Macguy, don't worry, I'll never be a Capt. I doubt I live that long.....knucklehead
Dakota, you're a survivor, no doubt in my mind you'll move over seats and do well, should you want to try.

OK, mea culpa…I understand your hesitancy in climbing to higher altitudes. Bowing out, less than gracefully.

I would think that most Capt's would accommodate you if you brought that to their attention. Also, if I were in your shoes, I would bid domestic short stuff to limit the exposure. If you are choosing to bid long haul, you are also choosing the (very slight) increase in radiation exposure that comes with it. Personal choices.

Probably deserves a different thread but:

Radiation does not scare me, now 90,000 hour/40,000 cycle airframes cruising at 400 does make me cringe a little. Wonder how much extra time you would have at 360 vs 400 to put on an O2 mask.

Maybe we should move this radiation topic to a different thread. I thought this thread was more to pay respects to a fallen fellow pilot.

Your point is well taken. I would, however, submit that one of the best and most effective ways to honor the folks who have left us to soon is to identify, discuss and investigate for change the factors which caused their untimely and premature death. If it we're me, I would want you folks all over this........no mas.

I totally agree. I think the discussion is appropriate, but just in a different thread.
