Still some DC8's operating in Africa. Saw a couple of -62's sitting in Kinshasa not too long ago and a 63 on the cargo ramp in Nairobi.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the updates guys. Amazing the old bird still makes a living 40 years after production ended. Could it be the DC3 of the jet age?

The first 757 has been flying out of WRI since May and that DC8 went to the west coast after ATI donated a DC8 (799AL) to an air museum in June.
One favorite replaced with another! The 757 is the sweetest, most versatile aircraft I've ever been involved with. The -200 & -300 we flew had over twice the thrust of a DC8-63 (at 100,000# less MTOW) and outstanding performance. With 75,000# of fuel, a respectable max landing weight, and CAT III capability we seldom worried about fuel reserves. I'm retired, but I expect the 757 to be flying for a long time.

Enjoy that ride!

"Been There": Was with Rosie out of Dayton in 86. That brings back a few hazy memories!!!

I think 41CX has a short reprieve with us as N754CX goes to ILN for a quickie two-week heavy check next week. Also, some talk about some humanitarian flights for the Philippines. But 41CX and 721CX are still flyable and have 4 crews hanging out for those actual last flights.
