"I've often wondered if Management has a "War Room"? I can imagine a room that has big scrolling calendars, there are 2 big red vertical lines"

Your giving flight management too much credit, they're just lackeys trying to keep their jobs. These decisions come from way above, they're called "Labor Attorneys", and they get paid allot of money.

How about I head to my local Walgreens, purchase over the counter Sudafed directly from the pharmacist (a healthcare professional who practices pharmacy). Take a picture of the box and the receipt after highlighting the date, then email that picture to the PAC with my handy dandy IPad when requested. Geez.

Oh and if you call in sick over Christmas, the new procedure is to buy your doctor a ticket, within the accepted fare of course, to Memphis to testify. You can monitor the testimony through the new glass partition separating ops from black ops.

The technical name is "Sneeze Guard".

My wife has been battling breast cancer for the past 12 months and I just received a advisory letter for calling in sick 2 times in that period...nice. Instead of having my back, they choose to pile more stress on me. Just culture? Unbelievable!

BM seems to be on a personal crusade to make his name in mgt by wringing some sort of heretofore unseen level of production from the crew force. This is right in line with the mil harassment and the hassling of probationary pilots that began prior to peak last year.

If you need to call in sick and you find yourself even pausing to think about it because of this crap - take a minute to appreciate why you're hesitating, take the appropriate action, AND REMEMBER THAT MOMENT!!! It may come in handy as you build your resolve in the (hopefully not too distant) future.

I bet showing a pic of Preparation H would end further questions.

I live pretty far from any doctor. If my wife isn't around, am I supposed to drive myself to get that note, all the while barfing, sneezing, falling asleep, aching? Unsafe...

While my systems knowledge is descent, they are the systems experts. I know a couple of guys that did the legwork and told mocc the mel, got time and inits and pressed. A couple of days later, there's an email stating, the wrong email was applied and that the FAA was notified. Nice! So their way takes an extra 5-10 minutes after pushback(ok, 10-20), is right now when we really need to be leaning so far forward? Remember, don't use mil and you guys are abusing sick!

As far as the doctor's note, I think I might just try to keep a doctor on retainer. Mine 3 doors down prefers Macallan.

Sometimes they are far from systems experts or MEL experts.

True story on taxi out the standyby altimeter went T/U and called 130.8 to arrange a gate to return to since the A300 MEL stated one was on board and one is required. The "expert" on 130.8 immediately forcefully stated it's not flagged you can go. We had to educate him to the fact that just because something is not flagged does not mean you can always go.
