The NH hotel has a bar, right by the river. And, on warmer days, the bars and restaurants just south of the Hauptbahnhof along the river are great.

Still stay at the Intercontinental -- very nice. Nicer still is the Bally's-style gym attached to the hotel that the IC has privledges for. ABSOLUTELY NO REASON NOT to go there and work out -- both body and eyes get a work over..... lots of eye candy and not a bad gym either.
Had also heard 757's to CGN from the rumor mill. We'll see what happens. Could be a good gig flying throughout intra-Europe but I wouldn't want to do it on NB FO pay. I would think a European domicile would be tough on NB FO pay unless provisions for COLA were made. Manfred's worried about loosing a bunch of business if/when this CGN thing happens. IMO, FRA is too big and there's too much freight that goes through there for us to just disappear off the FRA ramp. I just can't see us not having some type of operation in FRA. Plus, the standard rules apply -- when it's painted purple and on the ramp and you can touch it, then "it" indeed happened. |

Then it's a done deal. Manfred knows all, and he seems to get smarter when he hits 180 kph on the way to the hotel.
Heck, he even helps out crew skeds now and then with check-in procedures.;) |
Do they take any european pilots for their operation out of Frankfurt?
Being a european pilot without greencard, this would really be quite interesting. Best regards from Krautland ;-) |

Seaduck, a more accurate reply to your question than fdx727pilot's response is that in order to be based at any European domicile for Fedex, you would still have to be hired by Fedex in the U.S. To be hired you would need to meet the 5-year U.S. residency requirements imposed by the U.S. Mail contract with Fedex. There are several foreign pilots flying with Fedex, but they were either hired before the 5-year residency requirement was created, or they resided in the U.S. for 5 years before getting hired. Check out the Fedex hiring requirements at http:/pilot.fedex.com.
