Frankfurt: God willing....

From the email jungle drums:

Crew bus rumors:

The first 10 to 12 Boeing 757s will be operated out of Cologne,
Germany. This is to establish routes into eastern Europe. DHL and UPS
both have hubs there. There are no curfews there. Frankfurt is getting
a third parallel runway and Rsy 18-36 will soon be closed.

I have heard similar rumors from Manfred. He also thinks that we will move our CDG operation to CGN.

Then it's a done deal. Manfred knows all, and he seems to get smarter when he hits 180 kph on the way to the hotel.

Heck, he even helps out crew skeds now and then with check-in procedures.;)

I love that guy - passing out beers to the crew without looking as he tops 160 klicks, F1 roadracing blaring out of his in-dash TV....

Just so you know the record or most consumed beers from the ramp to the hotel is (7) held by one of my esteem classmates. Party on dude.

As a side note doing the Capt RFO 4 times this month to CGN. A very cool town. Would like to see us have more of an operation there.

My favorite DH is CDG-CGN - the 11am-ish train from Gare de Nord is the ticket - 1st class.

BTW - You heard it here first, and I was close!:D http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...3&postcount=43

Thanks guys for not pointing out that the thread title says Frankfurt, not Cologne....

That whole FRA operation would fall apart, big time, without Manfred. He's the man. A typical German driver: drives fast; dishes out beers along the way; and watches his in-dash TV; all while doing about 90 MPH, and getting ticked at the other drivers who refuse to relinquish the left lane. When the GOCC boys are in a bind, Manfred and his wife always come through.

He also gets abused by GOCC. Many times he doesn't get the word on trip/flight changes. We were supposed to got MEM-LUX direct, then we were re-sched MEM-EWR-LUX. Wx in LUX went below mins and before we left MEM we were re-sched MEM-EWR-FRA. Had a long delay in EWR prior to the FRA leg. When we landed in FRA, guess where Manfred was - in LUX. He never got the word. Had a couple of other scenarios where he was the last to find out as well! He'll also get Rosie to open up after they close, as well!

ALWAYS give him a heads up when deviating, and ALWAYS "take care" of him, and he WILL take care of you!
