UPS Corporate Layoffs
As Atlanta-based UPS gears up for its busiest holiday delivery season yet, cutbacks are on the way at the corporate office.
The worldwide delivery service is offering voluntary separation agreements to 650 corporate staffers to eliminate what UPS calls redundant positions.
Employees have until the end of January to take the deals.

We have, by far and away the highest number of "management pilots" of anyone in the industry. I THINK there are over 270 of them running around looking for something to justify their existance. Really important stuff like:
"Hey, there's a strand of hair touching the top of your left ear."
"Those shoes could use a shine."
"Look, a pile of magazines to straighten!"
"How about those Cardinals."
"There are no line guys to harrass, let's eat lunch."
In addition to the surveillance and suppression duties they are a non-union airline within an airline who have no duty limitations and creative MEL interpretations to keep volume moving at all costs. If we ever grew a set they, along with subcontractors could make a half hearted effort at breaking a strike...many were scabs in previous lives. Other than that they're great to have around.
