FDX-adventures in VTO land
As an example of why pibs is a showstopper for me...
VTO #1 request. 3 days off in December...result, working 2 of them with a day off in between.
VTO #2 request. Commuter line....result, 7 commutes. Or, 4 commutes with, 2 bonus Memphis days off one week, and two weeks with a bonus Memphis rest day.
As a plus, looking forward to the time fdx is finally manned appropriately with sufficient reserves to allow me to trade trips again

Bottom 5th,
Requested 24-26, young kids.
Not working cyber Monday, days I'm working all have max open 10+ range. Not working on the major shipping days expected, and they have max opens in the 5-7 range. Theoretically, my requests beneficial for the company as well as myself

Here there be dragons....
Avoid VTO at all costs in December. I remember some super senior guys bid VTO in December once and got all reserve.
Nonetheless. I can usually hold top 5 VTOs and I still avoid it like the plague because they hose you. PBS - not on our watch.
I feel your pain.

…I don't care if I work Xmas (I am)… all I asked for was a commuter line… Didn't happen! :-(

The last time I complained about NOT GETTING ANY of my reasonable VTO requests, I was told. "It's called a VTO REQUEST!"
Notice their emphasis on "Request." Nice!
I don't understand how they benefit from just blanket declining EVERYTHING. In this business they need our cooperation for the system to move on time. The scheduling policies of the past 5 years hardly seems like the way to get it?
