[QUOTE=MaydayMark;1563714]
I'm kind of a landing gear geek.

Really....

This is a scary read and although some of these things may be several years out the wheels are already in motion and things are changing.

Unemployment rate of 25%-50% in 5-10 years?

Things will only get worse...

With so few gainfully employed when does the stock market implode again?

Big picture; what difference does it make if your Job is taken by a robot or an illegal alien?

Robots can't register to vote like illegals can and will.

This argument has been proven false over and over again for hundreds if years. Think about all the technological advances throughout human history, but yet none of them have caused mass unemployment. If this theory had any truth to it then the industrial revolution should have been an economic disaster.

There are not a finite number of jobs out there. Certain fields will disappear and new ones will be created. Would society really be better off if we still had to rely on seamstresses or blacksmiths to create our goods?

I thought pilots would be out of jobs by now since everyone was supposed to have a flying car in their driveway.

Mass production is different than automation. When the robots take over, how will the people who they replaced find employment? Large corporations will continue to maximize profits at all costs, however greed, power, arrogance and lust have a blinding factor that ultimately lead to to collapse of infrastructures. History proves this to be true.

Ask anyone at the United Auto Workers Union what happens when robots start doing the paining and assembly work.

Now ask anyone from Pontiac, Saturn or Plymouth what happens when you let foreign auto companies build plants inside the USA.

Think it can't happen to airline pilots?
