TonyC, the good faith reason in my sick call was "calling in sick before rdays" as was JE referenced in the grievance!
So as referred to earlier in another thread, I guess the best strategy is to roll the dice when sick on reserve and wait for an assignment and then call in sick if unable to fly.. Guess they will have to start adding more stbys for those late sick calls.

There was no good faith reason in my request listed. A letter was just "requested" for a short trip not over R days, near vacation nor a holiday. I assumed the unstated reason was the sin of allowing myself to get sick over peak. One should be able to train their body to only get ill during the slower times. Perhaps the health coach nurse can help me out with that one.

Absolutely agree! I'm hoping the grievance will shine light on all the "data" used to harass pilots over SCK.

I think you folks have got it all wrong. I think it's part of Managements "bob-n-weave" strategy for this month. Distract the ALPA Negotiating Committee with a SCK "alert" this month ... drag out negotiations for another month, WE WIN ... HIGH FIVES!
Last month it was the "towing illegally parked cars" from the crew parking lot strategy ... drag out negotiations for another month, WE WIN ... HIGH FIVES!
Next month? PBS? They won't fall for it but it ... drags out negotiations for another month, WE WIN ... HIGH FIVES!

Or the more likely culprit with the timing of the sick policy:
Scare the crew force into not calling in sick during peak in order to minimize draft & "optimize" the use of every pilot.
My guess is the timing was planned to maximize the shock value of the policy change...had this happened months back I'm betting it would've had less impact on peak sick leave usage
-distracting the union during negotiations is a nice bonus-

I got the same reason for requiring a note. I guess I can't ever call in sick again until I'm senior enough to hold a line and not get any R days on my schedule.

And ... how come NONE of the trips I'm ever assigned on RSV are in OPEN TIME? Are they hiding them? Does the CBA permit that?
