" I am not buying into this pilot shortage BS. Sure the regionals will be short paying 20k a year but all the majors will never have less than 5000 qualified applicants on file from here to eternity."
That is so true! I am afraid some are trying to spread the BS as far as possible so they can continue to fly until they are 90 (or drop dead in the cockpit).
"Been trying to find a chief pilot's daughter but my wife has been a deterrence. "
Now that's hilarious!

You got the numbers, but you'll have to stay current. Word from discussions here suggest you need to fly 200 hrs a year to be considered current. I'd ask someone better connected than me if those numbers are true. Move back to Memphis, do some contract flying, network down at the golf course and get your old job back. The timing would be good. We are not hiring at the moment and if you got back in now, you may leap frog the outsiders you will be competing with in a year or so. Good luck!

I would suspect there are never any guarantees. I guess it would be a gamble to throw boxes and have nothing ever come of it other than the valuable life lessons that only working at the hub can bring. One of my furloughed gigs is starting to recall (announced 6)and I am only 300 down the list so there is hope!!!

This is true a friend of mine I worked with here (not a ramper) left to go to work for Lakes got his 1000TPIC left Lakes got his old job back and was networking with the flight peeps he was pretty tight with the former SCP "O" but when BM took over he was told by him that his times were not competitive so he wound up putting in for and getting hired on the corporate side and is very happy.

That only shows that there are many more guys who want to work the cargo operation than there are for guys wanting to fly the corporate side of the house. And don't forget, executives are overhead/expense, while boxes are income.
