Didn't know a soul at UPS until I got there. Once I was there I found out I knew quite a few people. 29 days from first contact to class date. People are being hired all the time without an internal recommendation. Good luck.

Is the face-to-face time with UPS at AirINC a worthwhile investment? Or is it mearly 2-minutes, shake hands, nice to meet you, and put cover letter and resume into the pile?
