Hired without?
 

Any newhire or seasoned UPS pilot out there ever get hired without a pilot recommendation lately? Been trying to make a contact within but with no luck. Do not know or able to stay in touch with any jumpseats I've had in the past from Big Brown. Trying to make the jump back to cargo and leave the Red Tail behind and start over. Do you think I have a chance without one? It sure does feel like a uphill battle with no light at the end of the flightpath. Thanks for your insight in advance. ATPF

Got hired w/out any recommendation. More and more, it's been happening if you have heavy/international experience, etc.

It can be done!!

I don't think this was the case until lately especially if you have heavy time.
I have heard of a few pilots getting hired without recommendations.

I submitted my apps and four weeks later got a call for an interview. No Rec's didn't know anyone in the company. Went out to Louisville and thought I had a 50/50 shot when I left. I received a pool letter the other day. So what I am saying is YES you can get in. There is hope brother keep the faith!

Maddog and Shaggy...if you dont mind me asking how manys hours did you guys have...I dont really know anyone at UPS so I thought it was pretty much out of the question to get on there (although I'm still putting an app in). I've got heavy/international experience so what you say gives me hope :D

I had 3100 TT, 1800 PIC. PM If you want to know specifcs and I will help you or anyone else who has questions.

Right now, for UPS, I think that wide body or international time is more important than a recomendation.

I have a rec but no heavy time. Nothin' but crickets chirpin'.

I just found out my buddy got an interview with my recommendation being his only one. He doesn't have any heavy or international time so there's hope for the regional guys/gals too!

They called me thirty days after I applied and I don't have any heavy time and when they called for my interview my letters of rec had not been sent in yet.

I do however have a bunch 4800 pic jet as well as years as a check airman.....

Thank you all for the replies, and positive support. I am happy to hear, I have at least a 50/50 shot at UPS. Apps are in and bags are packed, now I just need a notice for interview date. I will prepare/study and wait for my chance to interview.
