I tell you Bob, it has been very helpful to me when I am disappointed....to use your particular brand of religion--Expectation Zero.

If nothing else, it keeps one's blood pressure down.

Take a typical retail environment...like, say Best Buy. You walk in the door, and the guy that greets you says:

"Welcome to Best Buy, how can I help?"

You say:

"Hey...thanks, I'm looking for a thumb zip drive."

He says...nothing, and has that spinning colored Apple wheel on his forehead with a blank stare.

You say:

"Hey...no worries...I can find it."

And you're on your way to find it yourself. Since you had Expectation Zero, you expected that response, weren't fazed by it, didn't flip out and your BP and pulse never skipped a beat. Now...had he led you to them while extolling the virtues of each and making several well thought out recommendations and told you about a huge rebate on one particular model you'd walk out of there thinking you won the lottery.

Either way, Expectation Zero made your day better and less stressful.

The religion, of course inspired unintentionally by a moronic banner UPS hung in SDF works even better there than at Best Buy.

UPS annoys the shyte out of me, but it won't beat me or drive me insane...that's what wives are for.

Quote: It's fairly easy for them to make that much, with their int'l override, late arrival pay and some open time, friends of mine in that seniority range on the international fleets can easily exceed $200K. The guys on here that say you can't are lazy and don't want to make the $$$. The money is there to be had if you want it.
OK.

So my understanding is that if you WANT to make extra extra money at UPS, you can. I'm just considering that the possibility of flying extra, in an international domicile, training on days off, carry ins, and taking the full sick check in December, etc. that I, CRJammin', can make over $200,000. You might scoff at that notion, but that's essentially a widebody captain wage at most carriers besides Delta and FedEx. And I just had UPSer jumpseat with me that says he made $225,000 last year, and he's an FO. Year 7 pay, I believe. Sorry for my stupid questions

The truth is that you "can" make 200+ as an FO but its a big "CAN". The way these clowns make the parings its hard to in ANC. Thats because The lines are made to maximize efficiency, 8-9 days hard block then sit three fly an "stuffer" trip to SDF then maybe a PVG turn after one or two days of more sitting.

If you are a commuter then two or three days off is not enough time to go home so your stuck in ANC in between trips so if you add in commuting in the day before your trip starting, you can be away from home 18-20 days a month.

The last thing many of us want to do when we spend so many days away from home is to pick up a trip and spend yet another three or four days working. This is life as a junior FO in ANC. Others will say bull but this is my reality, additionally note that one year in seniority in ANC is huge in terms of your quality of life, its the difference in being able to bid in the top 50 or in the bottom 50 out of 200 or so.

Now as for the dip$hit from purple calling us "lazy", get a reality check, I have never met a more professional, hard working group of guys with one common enemy than my union brothers and sisters of the IPA. You should be so fortunate to fly with us lazy guys!

Some other points to consider is our retirement. We have both an "A" plan and a "B" plan which is a big deal compared to what has happened to the Legacy's plans. As for night flying, It is what it is, however if you decide you'd rather fly for Delta or American and plan on one day flying wide-body International routes, guess what?, You'll be flying nights!!! Or perhaps you'll be happier flying 5 legs a day with whiney pax, annoying Stews and all the other "baggage" that goes along with flying live passengers "pick your poison.
Also My Fed-Ex buddies always say how much better we have it here at UPS than they do at Fed-Ex! Grass is always greener. Bottom line I stay healthy, fly my trips, go home, and collect a big check and pension. UPS's BS is out of my mind the second I block in. When I go to my Reserve squadron all I hear are American, Delta, United, Jet Blue and Kallitta guys *****ing about their airlines too. Nobody is happy buts its better to be unhappy with cash and a retirement than not

I appreciate all the honest posts but I recently separated from AD and need a good paying job. If UPS is hiring then I'm applying. I know a lot of other guys that will apply too. We all know the history of the company and the difficult night flying schedule but considering the deployments and flying a lot of us have done in the last 10 years, it can only get better.

How long would it take to hold ONT?

You might, maybe, it could be possible to get it right out of class. You could also get sent to any fleet and crew base . The bottom of every fleet and domicile get moved frequently . To hold it without concern about getting moved , above twenty percent from the bottom.
This is why many of us commute from states with no income tax or where our family wants to live .

According to others, ANC is NOT the junior domicile any longer, so if you whine about ANC, you are doing it to yourself, voluntarily.
