Kalitta Air now accepting FO applications

If you give 110% in training, they WILL notice it, and will work to get you through. I highly recommend that you have glass cockpit experience, and know how to program the box. It's 90% similiar to the Collins in the CRJ. Go take a look at PMDG's addon for flight simulator, their new 747-400. You will show up to class already knowing how to fly the damn thing.
This is not an entry level job, you need to come wearing your big boy and girl pants.
Don't show up with distractions like family and business issues on the side. You are given a mountain of manuals, and yes, you need to read them all and continue to read them all for as long as you work here.
I can't speak about how it used to be here, but I keep hearing from everyone that it has improved greatly, that the old reputation this place has is no longer valid.

By training overhaul what I mean is that there is now a fairly defined path for remedial training etc... in the past it was really left up solely to the DOT and perhaps a TRB what extra training you did or did to get... There is a base of corrective training laid out that can certainly be augmented if the company desires.
As with most training issues they come and go. Mostly in the past our had to do with all of the CheckAirman and Instructors not being on the same page, that to a large extent has been fixed.
As someone said above, this is a big boy program, they throw a lot of information at you and a lot of it you are expected to learn on your own. We have hired, trained and retained nearly 180 pilots in the past 2+ years with relatively few failures.

we commercial to and from work... it counts as a DH so you get up to 2.5 hours pay credit to and from work. As DHing commercial during a pattern... hit and miss..i have averaged about 3 or 4 times a year... I'm sure there are guys with more... and less, and yes again its DH so it counts half time towards guarantee.

Well, in the three years I was a ***** to Connie Kalitta [he never tried anything sexual with me], I have to say that I had a LOT of fun, and my schedule was actually pretty good. That was 2003-2006; Your situation may vary~
