Okay, I guess the gym question came up because I'm trying to see how you still have normalcy in your life when you're gone for over two weeks at a time. When I fly now at a regional, I come home after a few days. On the road, once in a good gym I sort of still feel like at home for a little while.

While you're gone you're a walking zombie. Forget about getting productive, scheduled time at the gym.. Your diet alone will make you feel like you have scurvy...The good news is when you get back for your 2 weeks off, the normalcy will return just about 3 days before you go back in. So you can really bulk up then. Hope this helps.
When I was flying for an international Pax operation, I commuted to work say on Monday. Flew Tuesday, overnight London, then back to LAS, the commute home to PIT. Off for 3 days. Then do it all over again. I was tired all of the time.
Here at K4 things are a bit different. The company flies me to work on day 0 and puts me in a hotel. I show up for my first leg rested. I fly to the destination and get a nap on the way. The catering is for the most part pretty healthy and when I don't eat right it is clearly my fault. I get to the destination and most of the time have a minimum of 24 hours off. Plenty of time to rest and work out. Repeat about 5 to 7 times during my 16 days out, and then it is time to go home. I head home pretty rested but completely jet lagged depending on where I was flying that month. Within a day or so I am back to normal.
I think I am much healthier working here than I was in the Pax world. The really nice thing about our life style is that when I go home I am off for 2 weeks.
I agree with SX that exercise is important. However, as other have mentioned I would not even make it a consideration on whether or not I would apply to work at a company or not. If you want to find a gym you can always find a gym.

I have to disagree with you Whiplash6.

I am more well rested here at K4 than I ever was at a regional, and our international hotels are VERY nice. Just had a nice workout.
Coming from a ULCC regional, hotel choice is very important to me but not as important as being home based, pay, and lifestyle. Regardless, the hotels are very nice. The catering has healthy choices as well. You can gain 25 lbs your first year here if you want, or be healthy, if you want.

Yep.. I thrive on a normal sleep schedule. Forcing myself to sleep, wake up, and also stay awake zaps my energy for days on end. It can be tough.

I am just a FNG, but I think that is your mistake. Sleep when tired, eat when hungry, don't fight your body, and try to get a 5 to 6 hour sleep before show time. If you can't sleep on an airplane, this isn't the job for you.
