FedEx 757 to Europe ??
 

I have been hearing 20 757's going to Europe on the next bid. Does anyone have any intel on this or is this just another rumor.

-During our basic indoc introductions, the various players that run FDX came in and all of them said that 757's are coming, and they are going to be used in Europe. They didn't say whether the first airplanes were going to Europe, but they definitely said that the want to bring the Airbuses home. They did not mention any numbers either.

Pilot bases are still in discussion with various European governments. Paris is still the target, though talks with the German Government [Frankfurt], the Czech Government [Prague], and the Belgian Government [Brussels] are taking place.

I've heard Cologne as a possibility. I haven't heard anything about it being in the next bid though? I have heard of a big bid coming out spring 07'; as big as the MOAB we got las yr. I can't imagine anything on the 757's out then, as we're not even scheduled to get the first one's until 09'? or so I thought

There are three guys going thru the 757 checkout at Delta in Atlanta as we speak. I think the first jet gets picked up in Jan for cargo conv. I think we will see 757s on the spring bid. How many or where, who knows.

There will be one pax airframe used for route qual. The rest are starting their conversions next summer.

1st batch ready for revenue service in Jan 08, so I would expect to see numbers fairly high, considering capt', fo's, flex's and lca's. We'll see.

Question…So if the planes are based in Europe, will the pilots need to live in Europe also? How does that work?
