We will let you know in October after the 400 or so eligible declare. Hopefully they all walk out on Dec 1.
But no one knows, particularly anyone on the line or in management. The bean counters will turn the switch on too late and off too late is the only thing you can count on.

1) There are more than 400 eligible. "Eligible" is over 55 and vested. Other common considerations that enter into someone's decision to go is maxing out a high 5, and 25 YOS. I know of people younger than 65 planning to retire this year without attaining one or both of those.
2) Oct is not a deadline to "declare." You only need to give flight management 1 day notice to retire. (manglement would DEARLY love to change this part). You need to ask the retirement folks for a package at least 30 days prior to the date you want to start receiving benefits. In theory, the retirement folks don't talk to flight management, but if you believe that, I've got a great deal on a bridge.
3) Those that leave probably won't all be gone by Dec 1st... Some will want to defer final compensation (next year's vacation BB, etc) until the new tax year. But I'd guess that almost all will be gone by the 20th or so.

Nite, et al :
The vacation BB is a big financial low hanging fruit, but some may also delay pulling the handles in anticipation of a signing bonus/ retro package......hang tuff, guys.
High regards,
BG

There is some confusion coming from how we could be "short" yet buying up lines.
A subset of those eligible to retire is causing management to lose sleep. I suspect the increasing 60-64 year olds with 25 years service are the ones. They have to plan for their IMMEDIATE departure.
Hiring will likely occur to maintain our slightly overmanned condition.
