I'm pretty sure they are based at BFI (Boeing Field, Seattle) I live in the Seattle area and see them coming/going all the time. My friend has a condo downtown and says he sees fuselage parts being shipped via train to Boeing's Everett, WA facility. It's cool to know that they are starting to be assembled I can't wait to see the 787! Why they don't fly the parts straight into the Everett airport...I don't know.

In interviewed with EZ back in Oct. We were briefed on the LCF deal, and here's what I know.

- Boeing retains ownership of the jets, EZ has a 20-yr contract to provide the crews.

- Initially 12 crewmembers were selected, already chosen from in-house, & I think they're already in training. During the interview, I was asked, "Would you want to bid the LCF when you could, or would you prefer to stay on the classic?" Which seems to me to indicate that any future increases to the LCF fleet or replacements for the initial cadre would also be done by bidding from within.

- There was a hint by one of the management that they may designate CHS as the LCF pilot base. The jets only stop at 4 fields: CHS, one in Japan, one in Italy, and (I thought) Everett (but perhaps BFI?).

Thanks much shyguy. I'm not sure if I can receive PMs yet - still fairly new here. I do also go by q100 at that other forum, the one with the words info and flight in the name. I'd rather not put my email address on a public forum - nothing personal.

I do more than meet the mins, and have gone so far as to FedEx the resume to McMinnville with no call yet, so any help would be gratefully received. In the meanwhile I try and put enough posts on APC to qualify for Pms.

Rgds,

The base is currently listed as CHS (Charleston SC)

They just furloughed the class that started this month. Told them yesterday on the last day of ground school.

Ouch! Talk about a blow below the belt! That's surprising given all the advertising for pilots they have on various job websites.

Going right into the LCF won't be a problem. Right now they are not getting enough Captains to bid over from the classics and even the new hire FO's are being junior-manned into the LCF. With CHS being the base, it is not an attractive nor easily commutable trip for those living in the West. The other thing to note is that most of the Senior Captains at EZ has never seen glass and may not be willing to transition to the 21st century flying (old dogs don't like to learn new tricks).

Is the pay rate for the LCF any different than the classics? CHS would work great for me!
