Nope. The CDC asked the media to stop reporting on every single Ebola case/suspect. This was to control fears and possibly has a political/election angle.

The cases of people being monitored in NYC has tripled. Yes, we dodged a bullet in Dallas and we're very lucky there. Hopefully the issues in NYC resolve the same way and the procedures put in place help prevent any further transmission in the USA and/or anyone with Ebola coming to the USA.

If we "dodged a bullet" and this disease is this contagious (or at least, more contagious than CDC/WHO says) like some of you seem to believe, then why is no one in this country (outside of two nurses dealing with one very sick man) ever caught it here? Of the hundreds and hundreds of people exposed on aircraft and in waiting rooms and bowling alleys and all these places that the Liberian man and the nurses and the doctor went, why is no one they saw or spit on or sweat on or sneezed or yawned or sat next to have Ebola? The only transmission that has taken place in the US involved health care workers, who presumable were exposed to the urine, feces, blood, and vomit of the dying man from Liberia. I am unaware of any other "transmission" at all. Unless it is all part of the cover up? Is that the suggestion?

Azoom: Hopefully this provides enough links to enough "reputable" source material for you............it also is a sort of running commentary since this outbreak began so as not to conveniently forget developments. Although I do think the video is definitely "Preper" in nature the imbedded links are useful

Our media has greatly reduced the reporting... It's spreading like crazy, as predicted. It is also very hard for the health care folks over there to educate many of these people. A component of that issue seems to be that many possess some fixed beliefs and protocols that defy common sense.

Hindsight is 20/20, so at least you have perfect vision going for you. I think you missed the part about "possibility" of further cases and spreading of the outbreak.

My suggestion is you read the news this week and decided to apply it to posts from some time ago to show us how smart you are.

Yoda,

What would help is if you were more specific in your statement about Ebola spreading like crazy. Someone might think that you were talking about its spread here in the USA, which is not true. It is spreading in West Africa and surrounding countries though.

As for your last statement: "A component of that issue seems to be that many possess some fixed beliefs and protocols that defy common sense.", I thought for a moment that you were talking about the FedEx pilot group, the MEC, and the company, as it relates to contract negotiations, but then realized that you actually might not have been. Please clarify.

Sorry for any misinterpretation... Was only referring to West African region and their populace. Not sure the truth about what's happening in the US except I believe we are still unprepared. Wife's a nurse, stateside, so maybe somewhat more in the loop with this than the general population. Apparently the medical folks are fighting an uphill battle to educate these people... Nothing to do with any pilots, Etc. just FYI.

Huh? Hindsight how? I will try to be clearer. Despite the established fact that outside of two healthcare workers treating a very sick Liberian man in the late stages of the disease, some on this board seem to believe that this disease can be easily transmitted by casual contact. This despite the factual evidence that of hundreds and hundreds of people "exposed" here in the US via the infected nurses from Dallas and the doctor from NY, none zero nada have gotten infected.

I am certainly missing your point (if you made one) about reading the news this week? So I am clearly not smart enough to understand how a news article about the possible decline of Ebola in West Africa has anything to do with the point I attempted to make?

I apologize in advance for my ignorance and look forward to you dumbing down your last remarks for me.

So your point is we should let in more very sick terminal Liberian men because only two healthcare workers contracted the disease?

Point = disease not wildly contagious as some believe, no need to quarantine asymtomatic people.

Side point (since you brought it up) = Efforts to screen proposed by CDC/WHO at exit from country adequate, screening at entry purely political move.

Hope that is clear enough. Going to bed.
