I bet you intentionally left out the opportunity to be an FO for your entire career and the stability of working under the same labor contract for 10 years at 2.25% dues........ and how come you did not mention the easier to calculate 1% multiplier vs fedex 2%...... you also did not mention the wonderful non-union workforce that is growing.... And airplanes that are so dirty that with such little effort you can write "wash me" on them with your fingers..... Like I said,,, you are so negative,,, |

What about the positive big announcement a few weeks ago, November time frame ... The styrofoam cups were replaced with larger paper cups. The larger cups will provide increased liquid capacity, and the new lids are more secure, minimizing spillage in the cockpit. Things are really changing for the better around here this year ! :D:D |

Things are really changing for the better around here this year ! :D:D Even though I have only seen it on ONE flight since said "big announcement". I know....the sdf-tards are slow and we shouldn't expect them to follow through with such a difficult task without hiccups. |
Oh my !!!
Here I was all excited for the interview I have upcoming after a LOOOONG wait.... maybe I should not have come in here...!??
I guess it's not my dream job... or maybe... poo, I don't know... Oh well for 75-85 hours a month at that pay they can mess with me for 25 weeks a year. NOW: I have a bid package but am trying to understand what I can/could expect at the bottom in SDF; - A300 or B757 - What's the reserve rules or what's the best schedule I can hope/try for living 2 hours driving from SDF parking? - Would/will I need a crash-pad/room? Thanks! |

What does that tell you.... UAL DAL and AAL all looking for pilots......if it takes you 2 to 4 more years to get hired by one of those it is still worth the wait....they will have retirements and career progression and their pay is the same...or will be the same... |
I think if you point out the flaws or try to explain how everyone else(pax carriers) have caught up to UPS or surpassed it, guys say your anti-union or say your whining. Usually its the guys that are happy making 350+ a year and work less than 10 days a month. Its not anyone in at the bottom of the list who have only moved backwards in the past 8 years.
Fact: 1. No progression at UPS only regression. 2. More managers hired during the past 8 years than line pilots. 3. Commuters bottom of the list can be expected to be away from home 15-20 days a month, out of a 28 day bid period, due to line construction. 4. Without an A plan and conflict bidding, this place would be most peoples last choice. 5. Don't look at answers from those who have been hired since day one as a captain or close to it. Ask the bottom 300-500 guys who probably will be an career FO for the next 12-15 years, if they ever upgrade, for answers about life at the bottom. 6. If you get hired, expect the best union in the industry and best bunch of guys to fly with with one common enemy. UPS Good luck and lets us know if you have more questions. |

Good luck and lets us know if you have more questions. Going on 8 years and have yet to "conflict bid" anything but a week of vacation for a week of reserve. How great is that ? Even the senior are complaining about how good UPS has gotten at restoring. It could be worse. Its not like we fly all night through bad weather around the globe or anything like that ;) We have those great paper cups ! |

Thanks! B757 and A300 are the junior fleet for now. If you can find the lines that say "Base Line" on them, that is what goes real junior. Some of the bottom guys can't even hold reserve because being on call is better than an abusive base line. Probably need a crash pad because it is 1.5 hours from call in to the parking lot on reserve, if you could hold it. Or multiple trips a week on a base line. Good Luck, its a trucking company with airplanes. |
