UPS info

Hey guys, I just got the invitation email. Needless to say, I'm really excited for the opportunity. Now that I am one step closer to the job, my mind, and of course my wife's, are being flooded with questions.

I'll start with just a couple. I know the company keeps everything pretty secret, but any idea about projected hiring over the next couple years? Also, I'm assuming the junior base would be ANC? If so, is ANC even remotely commutable?(we are not opposed to moving, I just want to minimize the disruption in my kids lives) Would an ANC schedule be something like 2 weeks on, 2 off?

I appreciate all the help. Thanks.

UPS info

All 40 new hires this year went to SDF, not ANC. "Rumor" is 100/yr for the next 6 years...due to retirements and attrition.

Good luck!

OP, was the email you got an invite to complete the Hogan Assessment?

If so, good luck with that and let us know what the last screen says (probably either some variation of "We'll contact you soon" or "We're pursuing other candidates"). Try not to overthink your answers or "game" the test by answering the way you *think* they want you to answer. Read thoroughly, answer honestly, and be prepared to see the same question a half-dozen ways, in a slightly different variation that may or may not change your answer.

Thanks for the info. SDF would be my first choice, so if all goes as planned, I hope that is still the case.

Yes, it was an email with a link for the pysch assessment. Some of those question were crazy! After I completed it, a screen flashed up with some code, and I saw the words "pass", then redirected to a page that told me a recruiter should be contacting soon.

Hoping all goes well!!

Think hard before coming here. I'd never advise to come here with all the retirements happening at the big 3. Gotta be crazy to apply here. It's not an airline.

Anc74,

While you wouldn't advise coming to ups, why is it that you don't practice what you preach and get on with the big 3 while hiring is hot? Seems to me you're dooming yourself by staying here while pax opportunities await....

Pilot7576,

Is this your only airline? Just curious because if anyone disparages someone from coming to UPS instead of a legacy, that's the only reply some people say.

Except for the last 40 hired, all of us have been on property long enough to make a move prohibitive. Starting out however is a different case all together.

The junior schedules at UPS on the A300 and 757 domestic are far worse than legacy carriers. On top of that, reserve goes senior because they are so bad.

My fourth airline so I do have some comparison.

Jetrat - good luck to you! Hope to see you flying the line soon.

You'll probably end up in SDF, which is the good news. That's also the bad news. Commuting-wise ANC sucks, no sugar coating here. SDF sucks for everything else, especially for junior guys/gals. So you got that going for you. LOL

Not a perfect place but I like it here. So do most of our brothers and sisters. To keep your sanity follow these 3 steps:

- Do your job,
- go home
- and forget about it.

Repeat.

That's it. They won't bother you.

- Stay away from message boards! lol Sure, you might get some "advice" here and on our internal B&G (b**** & gripe) message board but you'll also end up needing tons of Prozac. So just stay away!

- Paycheck is always on time or early.
- Enjoy your time off, your family and friends and you'll do fine.

- The most important piece of advice is:
->> NEVER EVER, under no circumstances should you cross over to management! <<-

You will never get any respect and you'll have a very lonely career.

So good luck to you! Hope to see you flying the line soon.

Swedish blender...

I do realize the concept of v1 at an airline. However, with a join date in May 2014 for Anc74 on this forum, not sure if his v1 is measured in years or months. That is my point....

My experience here at UPS even after furlough ain't that bad. Lots of guys ***** but I don't know of a perfect airline or even a place that would be better for my lifestyle to work at. As a side note Brown is my #6 airline so that tells you how good of decisions I've made in my career.
Also the ANC base, for the time being its THE Senior base for F/O's with guys waiting in line to get up here. I hope we don't see any new hires up here until the guys who want to come up here are offered something up here first.
