someone tell me about the mini hotel, err, crew rest/airport reserve rooms inside AOC. I hear that there isn't much there, perhaps a bed, a nightstand, and not much more. . .

Its is the Fedex pilots rest area within the AOC. Its to be used by hub turning working crews and airport standbys. Not a player, even when you come in early to rest for a long duty day, most stay at their crash pads or the Holiday Inn Select.

that bad uh?

Thanks for the recs. You confirmed what I thought about the airport hotels & why driving there might be best. I'll be going to the Pan Am Int'l Flight Academy by Hacks Cross. So I guess a better question might be; how are the hotels by the Pan Am sim building?

Try reading the previous posts, as we've addressed the hotel situation there by Hacks Cross.

I stay at the HI Express at Hacks and Nonconnah. About a mile south of the sim. Fedex rate is $70 for a King NS with kitchenette. It's only a couple years old so still nice. Free wireless and "breakfast" I stay there when I drive in for recurrent training.

Not bad at all if your on duty. Not allowed to use them unless you are on duty.

You'd be suprised how many guys would have microwaves and mini fridges in those rooms with in hours if they could use them anytime!

Past....

I'll admit it: coming in at midnight off a trip, facing a 5 hour drive home, I just crash in the recliners in the "Starlight Lounge." I can get 6-7 hours sleep in there. Hope you guys don't mind my snoring....

I prefer the lounge chairs to the sleep rooms any day (night). It's amazing how inconsiderate some people are in the sleep room area with the door slamming. Doesn't take much to hold the door when shutting it.
