Default Fedex Base Replacement?

Just read an email from the union regarding base replacement. I am confused - does it mean the company can require us to go to work earlier than original trip to cover a different trip? Forced draft? I have never heard of base replacement before. Anybody have any experience with this?

There are plenty of reasons not to check in early, this is one of them.

Yes, you can be assigned any trip you are legal for once you sign in. A friend commuted in, signed in, and was call in the sleep room by CRS 3 hours before his trip. Note, you cannot refuse the trip.

To be technically correct you can refuse it and then they can can force you to take it but then have to pay you draft. You get three extra hours if you block out on the trip.

Agree. My bad. You know CRS will always default to involuntary.

You may decline. They can then do it involuntarily. It is now called "involuntary base replacement".

Always decline. They are not allowed to do base replacement until they have exhausted draft options. Therefore, if you do not do it voluntarily you'll be paid draft for the higher of your original trip or the replacement trip plus an additional 3 hours. If you voluntarily accept it, you only get the three hours plus the basic value of the higher of the two trips.

Always refuse to volunteer. You're getting assigned the trip either way - get draft pay.
