And since we're talking about the new hotel, any gouge on restaurants, watering holes, or other diversions? I found a noodle shop (with beer) in the station on the lower level next to the downstairs McD's. Some other guys found a curry place, upper level. Any place outside the station? For you runners, the park/ball fields are about .7mile south of the hotel. Go out lobby door to the left past the station and down to street level. Continue on under the elevated road to the levee. Decent running along the canal.

Walk out the front door of the hotel (by the gym). The office building directly in front of you on the other side of the elevated railroad tracks/road has a bunch of restaurants on the first and second floors. Convenience store on the street level and a Starbucks in the lobby. All restaurants and the convenience store are crazy busy during lunch hours.
Second floor has a decent noodle/gyoza/beer place along with the usual set menu options. Up the main escalator and straight ahead.

Most of the stores and the restaurents in the Shin-Osaka station are closing by 9PM. Found two German-themed restaurents/bars ("Kellar-Kellar, something like that) in the station are OK. The "Gyoza Station" is on the second floor of the office building (Nissay Building) across the stree from the Marriott. Engish menu, great gyoza.

Go out the exit next to the McDonalds on the main train level (level 3). The McDonalds is on the opposite side as the main entrance where the taxis are at....
