Actually the F'ed up thing with them is that they do it when you are nice enough to give them 2 week's notice. Friggin scumbags...

You worked passed the date they "fired" you?? If so, I'd lawyer up. Make 'em pay. I'm not kidding.

Happened to me too. Just a way to save a buck on insurance, no pay or PRIA issues.

I wonder what the feds would say if they learned a company allowed an individual other than an employee to operate an aircraft.

Saw something similar happen some years ago:
April 94 class with Tower Air:
We were well into ground school, probably 2 weeks or so.
Friday afternoon just as we were done for the day, 8 or 9 guys were told to stay behind.
The rest of us went to the hotel and hit the bar.
An hour later the 8-9 guys showed up, they had just been fired as the results of the background checks came in that day.
I saw grown men cry that evening. Cruel and ****ty as some guys had already quit their previous jobs and at the time Tower Air was a good gig, decent pay, quick upgrades, etc.

Saw the same nonsense when I was a union steward at Amerijet a long time back. Same clowns in same management positions to this day. Had a guy give a two week notice in Lima, and was promptly fired, with no way of getting home. Other guys were denied insurance claims, as AJT claimed they were retroactively terminated. Strange days, but a dollar is a dollar to their CEO, so sue them. He knew those people were so eager to wash the dirt off themselves after leaving that they would never take legal action.

Evergreen used to pull the same sh#t.
Get your union involved immediately if there is a PRIA issue and get it fixed. The carrier of choice today doesn't mean it will be a few years from now.

I'll have to see my pay in a few weeks to know about the pay. Thankfully i wasn't on the road for them. I'm sure they would have done the same thing...imagine being in Germany and tripping down some stairs only to find i have no Insurance because i was "terminated" days prior. Or have a family member get into a wreck...whatever.

Honestly I should have known better. Should have just waited until the last day and then said I quit. Only way to deal with these jerks...

Unfortunately it probably wouldn't even be worth the time or hassle and I'm sure they know this...
