Default K4...Dirtbag company!!!

Just so everyone who is even entertaining the thought of going to Kalitta knows what they are in for...I resigned about a week ago and was kind enough to give them my 2 weeks notice.

I just got a letter in the mail from an insurance company. Wasn't sure what it was so I opened it. Come to find out I was "terminated" the day I sent in my notice and was therefore no longer covered under the company's insurance. I could have had something scheduled already for myself or my wife, could have had an accident...who knows and I wasn't informed. And I'm sure they are going to try to screw me out of some of my pay to boot, since I was actually on the books past my "termination" date.

So...just be warned this is the type of scumbag outfit this place is. If you, for whatever reason, decide to go there, don't give them notice when you leave or you'll just be hurting yourself. I thought about not doing the right thing when I left...wish I would have gone with my gut feeling and I guess I can say I'm not really surprised by the resluts!

The thing is that this will show up as a termination from a 121 carrier on your PRIA and they will show you as not eligible for rehire. This will probably prevent you from ever getting on with a true career goal airline.

Unfortunately for them I have already been hired by my number one...hence my resignation. But an EXCELLENT point. Yet again another reason to hate the place and realize what a true bunch of scumbags they really are.

Congrats on reaching your goal. If you weren't there, I'd seriously pursue litigation against K4.

You have to be careful though. Many majors still hire you and will start you in a newhire class while they are completing background checks on you. Now, if you told them you resigned from K4 during your interview and they find out that you were terminated during the background check, they might have some issue and depending on how you can convince them of what K4 did to you, they might end up removing you from class and firing you for lying on your application, even though you didn't. Again, more litigation would be forthcoming for you losing your career goal airline job due to K4 lying about your resignation.

It won't, the same thing happened with me, no PRIA report.

Thanks! It was a bolt out of the blue and I'm so excited...as is my family.

I am going to talk to HR on Monday. I just talked to a buddy of mine and same happened to him. He said it was never even brought up but I'm going to play it safe and inform them. Should be no issue...especially in light of when it happened. Kinda odd I get "terminated" exactly two weeks prior to starting at my new company :/

Sounds like a good case for a class action lawsuit!

Agreed...problem is most people are just so happy to put that train wreck in their rear view mirrors as they drive away, it probably won't ever happen.
