UPS application !!!

Was able to get on the UPS site and complete the application this morning. 9:30 am pacific.

Good luck to all !!

Charlie Murphy 02-08-2007 08:41 AM

WTF? I just looked 6 minutes later and it's not posted.

MayFly135s 02-08-2007 09:29 AM

I also was able to update my flight times today without the error msg. It was quickly followed by the thanks but no thanks, "we have a lot of highly qualified applicants at UPS..."

Q: The v2.0 Flight Hours Sup specifically says not to add a military time conversion, but asked for # of Mil Sorties. Does anyone know if the app adds a correction, or does it just look like I don't meet the mins?

Let's ask the Magic 8 Ball...in 2008!

MX442 02-09-2007 06:01 AM

I can't find the application link. When I search the website, it says no jobs found. Is there another place that I have to go online to apply? Could someone post the link?

Thanks...

I found mine because I was able to start it before the problems and now when I go to my job inguiries and put my ss number in it shows up. I do not know how you can go about starting a new app.

Anyone else getting in? I see most of the conversation on this topic ended a few weeks ago ... did I miss something? Happy to be pointed to another thread (I've searched and tried about 20 of them so far).
Love to know what I would expect to see when/if I am ever able to get to an application. Format? Can I upload a resume or is it fill in the blanks? Any unusual info I need (other than my - TRUTHFUL! - answers to the psych profile questionnaire should that pop up ...). Understand I may only get one chance, and where I am I only get a limited amount of unclassified internet access.
Thanks to any who can be of assistance!

The application was pretty straight forward, fill in the blanks with your hours, quals and experience. Yes, you can upload your resume at the same time.

There is also a block that asks, "Do you have any other special aviation qualifications not previously described (e.g. instructor pilot, check airman, test pilot, assistant chief pilot, special military qualifications)?" If you answer yes, it gives you a block to descibe your quals.

I was able to go back to my application and update while others it seems were not.

Freightpuppy 02-21-2007 04:26 PM

Also, I heard you need to have all your info ready when you fill out the application as it doesn't let you go back in and add stuff once you finish it.

In addition, make sure you do paste your resume per HR.

wingnutC-17 02-21-2007 07:48 PM

I can only get in and see/modify my 2006 application, and always have been able to. I too have been looking for the 2007 application but no luck.

Anyone else feel like they are getting kicked below the belt?

A6danimal 02-28-2007 01:57 AM

Thanks for the responses, guys!

While I was in for my interview, I had a few minutes hanging around while they tried to get the fingerprint machine to decide to work. I overheard some folks in an office behind me talking about the new system and how much of a pain it is. The only thing I picked up of note was that ANY one with a prior "application or pool" status could not be further processed until they have an 07 application in. Apparently those of you swimming NEED to get that 07 app in. Good Luck and keep checking the site/hotline.

Bullcom 02-28-2007 07:09 AM

a ups friend of mine emailed me that pilot applications are closed "indefinetly". They have enough on file to fill the 200-300 they want to hire this year. good for those who got in...bad for those who didnt

I am sorry you think it's a waste of time to check a website every day for a possible multi million dollar job. I would keep checking if I were you.

resume updates

My application appears to be on file with UPS but I cannot update it. It says, "Thank you for your continued interest in employment at UPS. This application does not require any attention at this time." Is this right? Can we update our resumes with things like physicals and FE written dates? Thanks for the help.

Do you think that they care that you got a new medical or logged a few more hours? I think that this updating thing is a little over rated. If you don't qualify for the job, don't they pretty much tell you right away when you fill the application out?

But gee, some guy on a chat board said that they were all filled up, why waste my time?;)

Freightpuppy is right. Total fiasco but she is right

767pilot 03-01-2007 07:41 AM

Wait, you agree with Freightpuppy? Has hates frozen over? (I was being sarcastic in my comment that you quoted. With millions at stake, what's the harm in checking?)

armagostj 03-01-2007 08:20 AM

My 07 app just became unlocked yesterday. I can upload a resume and update fight time etc. I haven't recieved the "invitation for assesment" e-mail. So I'd say, can't hurt to check the website every so often.

What about a new phone number and address since the military moved you? Serious question - app is in, on file and relocating at the start of April, how do I update my contact info?

Friend of mine got the same. Able to update, with a button to schedule an appointment. But when he clicks it says something like currently no appointments available, check later by logging under My Applications

MoosePileit 03-03-2007 02:58 PM

My 07 App also in the last day or so went from "On File" w/o have been sent any further testing to "Active" with the ability to check and print pages and upload a resume, none of which were possible back on 19 Jan when I created the 2007 app version. I didn't get the testing, congrats to those who have. If you managed to get a 2007 UPS application started in January but haven't gotten to an interview yet keep after it.

GasPasser 03-03-2007 03:28 PM

I think the tech weenies @ UPS got this little front-end application system that can tell who is looking for the UPS pilot job posting online at their upsjobs website and screens out those folks it is not interested in; by not allowing them to see the job and therefore they can't apply. This system allows only those pilots who it likes; to see the job ad and to apply. That way they (UPS) can't be sued for discrimination in their hiring. They can't be accused of discriminating against someone who didn't apply right? Why else would they not allow all qualified pilot to apply?

How can UPS screen people before they apply unless they got some crystal ball? I don't think that theory flies.

I was told by HR that they began this new process by using the same main application that they use for, say, box throwers. PD said that those applicants are able to schedule interviews on line (hence the button to schedule an appt). He assured me that this will not be the case for pilots even though the link is there. If people are able to update now, I don't know if that link is just there for everybody or what.

I don't think so. When that link is up everyone sees it. At that point, anyone who meets the minimums can apply. They close it as soon as they get a predetermined number of applications in. That is why you need to check every day. On the days it has been visible, I have not run into anyone who didn't see it vs. someone who did. I know we are talking about UPS here, but that's a little too consipiracy theorish I think.

GasPasser 03-04-2007 06:21 PM

Oh I get it. The first 100 people to get in line for American Idol become the contestants for this years show. Everyone else is told to come back next time. That's a sure way to get the best talent. (sarcasm intended) What about those of us that seem to be working (or some other valid reason away from a PC w/internet access) during the 1-hr window when the app is up? It's not like these are job postings are preannounced so we can all be at our computers at 0001 when the doors are opened and hope we are caller 100 or less. Come on UPS, you can do better than this. Open the door for a week or more each time! Using peoples luck and timing to be a part of your hiring filter is not good HR.

Actually, I've been checking it everyday, multiple times, and I have checked it on days where others have said it was posted. Needless to say I'm still waiting to get my app in.

Freightpuppy 03-04-2007 07:05 PM

I agree with you GasPasser. It's pretty crazy. Good luck to you.

The current system is FUBAR but whining about it here isn't going to change anything...

FYI, my application says "active" today. For those of you needing to add something, today could be your day.

Still waiting for the phone to ring here. Assessment completed 2/2.

resume update

Soo....Can anyone help with getting an update to a resume? I've checked everyday -- no dice.

Thanks for the help,

Fish

C17turtle 03-07-2007 07:20 AM

can't update or submit a resume until they are interested in you...

I got speak with HR today to clarify a few '07 application questions. Basically, if you have an "on file" application in the system you are pretty much done until you are invited to proceed in the the hiring process. That means no updates or resume submissions until you are invited to do so. I take that to mean if your file has gone active, good news is on your way or has already arrived...

Also, for those who are hoping for a second interview, there appears to be no rule on when that could be, if ever. They said you can reapply at the beginning of the next calendar year, but if, for example, you interviewed in Nov/Dec of one year, you wouldn't be getting a call the next January! I asked if they used 6 months as a rule of thumb, but didn't get a straight answer. I think exp96 on this forum interviewed in Oct and is already invited back for the assessment--so I'm guessing it's a possibility!

Your accusation is absurd buddy, but I'm sure you were being sarcastic

bayoubandit 03-07-2007 07:53 AM

I'm a little confused about the '07 App. I applied on 12/28/06 and can pull up my stuff at any time through my SSN and my job inquiries. It also says ACTIVE under the status bar.

Since I applied at the end of '06 and all my info seemed to transfer over to '07, is there anything else that needs to be done.

If I understand the other posts and UPS application process, you still HAVE TO apply for 2007. For some reason, the computer system does NOT purge or remove or deactivate the old application. However, as far as I can tell, they do not use the old one for calling people in 2007. Someone I think was called in January off of the old one, but it's my understanding that as we get into 2007, they are only going to use new applications submitted in 2007.

Perhaps you'll get called, and I would still by all means keep updating it and logging in from time to time. Perhaps you can track them down at a job fair and mention you've been in the system since 2006.

Let us know what you find out.
