I'm a FedEx pilot. Has anyone on this forum non-reved on British Airways?

I am going on vacation and would like to non-rev from Vancouver B.C. To London, Heathrow. I haven't non-reved on a foreign carrier before. I'd like to hear experience from those who have done it and how it works. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

 

It's like having a standby pass on United. You buy an ID90, check in and wait at the gate to see if you get on - easy. That said Virgin is marginally nicer than BA if that's an option. Oh and don't go in uniform, and don't have crew tags on your bags. The English don't seem to like that much.

Log into the FedEx intranet--not the pilot website. Must be on FedEx property to access. Go to home.fedex.com. Use keyword Travelnet. That will take you to business travel. On that page click the link for personal travel. Look that all over. Personal travel page will list all the airlines we have non rev benefits on and the process to book tickets. I don't think we have benefits on British Airways nor Air Canada--I'm looking at the list I printed 9 months ago so it may have changed, but I doubt it.

Two things to note for non-rev. You have to fill out your personal travel profile from the link found on that personal travel page at least 24 hours prior to requesting ticketing. You must fill in information to include your credit card. It takes 24 hours to process over to corporate travel. The other gotcha is that you have to complete the non-rev test within 6 months of ticketing. Even pilots must do this. It takes about 45 minutes to do, so take a look next time you're on property.

Now, is this just you traveling as a pilot? If so, I would recommend two options: 1) while we can't non rev on Air Canada, we can Jumpseat. Look at the ALPA Jumpseat guide. There is an Air Canada number you MUST call in advance to "book" the Jumpseat. You must pay taxes and fees on Air Canada and they will give you a record locator which you can use at check in kiosks. 2) if you have a FedEx pay event within 3 days of travel, look at buying a ticket via our pilot discounts.

Another option is the company into Stansted. Mem and Ind go there. The Stn ramp will give you a ride to the terminal and you can take the train to London.

 

Do all fedex employees get nonrev benefits? Or only pilots?

 

Full time FedEx Express employees get same non-rev benefits after a certain period of employment. I don't know what that time requirement is though. Also, I don't know if other divisions beside Express get these same benefits.

 

From what I understand, we have to take the written online test every 6 months for non-rev benefits, because of one of our Express employees in Oakland, who 'misbehaved' (as in, undressed while in flight, or something similar to that) while non-reving on Southwest.
