While I am not as of yet online at an ACMI it has been my experience from speaking with people who work at multiple ACMIs that offer home basing that "officially" (per the contract) it is not an option. However, they will "work" with you to a certain extent provided it benefits the company (cheaper) and doesn't infringe on the schedule. Other options typically include getting positive space on a company flight to a location near to your overseas home from which you would personally be able to purchase a cheaper ticket as well. Each operator is different as to the degree of "workability".

In the world of government contracts/contractors you can pretty much live where you want. Company will buy you a ticket to and from where-ever. Yes, technically not cargo but international home basing. I know of guys that go home from the rock box to shoot deer in MT, another guy I know has a tattoo parlor and restaurant in BKK, another lives by the beach in Costa Rica. Come to think of it Berry Aviation has a contract flying cargo in Afghanistan, so they qualify. The kicker though is that for this side of the industry you pretty much need a clearance to get in.
Hope that helps.
