Did anyone hear of the "get well" card one of our pilots sent Smith while he was in the hospital?
It went something like this. "Mr. Smith, I hope your surgery goes well. However, I just want you to know...No matter how successful it is. "FedEx will go on, with or without you." I'm sure it never actually got through to him. But, I thought it was a pretty clever play on his red letters. |
Maybe Fred had jumpseated over to Europe on one of our MD-11's and had been up for a few hours during the night. That plus the time zone changes might have helped him to be a little sleep deprived. That would make anyone a little "under the weather", sound like anyone we know. Long live the optimizer.:eek:

What is the significance of the "red letters?" Did the company send a "not so kind" letter out to the pilots or something like that? I am just curious. I have only been with the company a couple years.
Hhhmmmmmmmmmm . Did you read anything the Union sent you during contract negotiations during the past 2 years. Go to the alpa.org website and log on. Go to my MEC. Click on MEC. on the left side there are several links. Click on Pilot History and read. It is worthwhile and educating. |

Keep your head in the sand and we'll be working under this new contract for 10 years. I keep a copy of the red letter with me at all times, just in case I ever think FedEx cares about me. Give me your locker number and I'll put a copy in there so you can have one too. |
Are you guys talking about the red Christmas card Fred sent out one year? I put it on my mantle with the rest of the cards.
That way I knew my friends and relatives liked me and Fred didn't ... where do we get such leadership? Whenever I think about going "above and beyond" the contract for this company, I just remember, "They will go on, with or without me." Fred told me so himself! A remarkably stupid management blunder in my opinion! Regards, Mark |
